: right now new details on secretary of state hillary clinton's condition. she is receiving treatment right now at a new york hospital after doctors discovered a blood clot theming from the concussion she suffered earlier this month. secretary clinton was admitted yesterday and could be there for days. david lee miller is here live with the latest, and david, first of all, do we know how serious this blood clot is? >> at this point that is not entirely clear. officials have not released specific information about the location of the clot. medical experts who have not treated hillary clinton say it is probably and i under score that word problem below in her leg. a blood clot in the brain or lungs is considered much more dangerous. a statement from the state department says she is being treated with anti-could he ago ooh atlantas and will remain in the hospital until tuesday in order to monitor her medication. since suffering the concussion secretary clinton has not made any public appearances. she was forced to cancel an overseas trip as well as congressional testimony on the attack o

the health of secretary of state hillary clinton. doctors say they're confident she'll make a full recovery from a blood clot between her brain and her skull. the condition brought on by a concussion that she suffered during a fainting spell at her home back in early december. chief intelligence correspondent catherine herridge is live in washington. when did these health problems start for the secretary? >> reporter: well, rick, for nearly a month secretary clinton has been dealing with health problems which began, according to her staff, after being overseas. on fred, december 7th, mrs. clinton has a stomach virus. the following tuesday, a trip canceled sending a deputy in her place. on saturday, december 15th, her aides say mrs. clinton became dehydrated from the stomach virus or which led to a blackout causing the concussion, and then last weekend on sunday b aides confirming the discovery of this blood clot. clinton's aides have not said when the fall happened, where she was when it happened or whether she was alone when it happened. rick: a lot of lawmakers want to hear from secretary

clinton is waking up now in a new york hospital. she is being treated for a blood clot that formed after her fall and concussion that happened a few weeks ago. want to bring in dr. sanjay gupta, our chief medical correspondent. sanjay, explain this for us because, first of all, when you think about it, she developed this blood clot related to a concussion. you would think maybe the clot formed in the brain, but that's not necessarily the case. >> no, it's not necessarily the case. and i think saying it's related to the concussion, that may be putting that wrong impression possibly in people's minds. there's a really simple reason why, suzanne. she's being treated with blood thinners, or anti-coagulants. if this were a blood clot on top of the brain or around the brain, you wouldn't do that because that could worsen the bleeding and prevent an operation from being performed, if that is necessary. again, no one is saying that's the case here. you're absolutely right. the typical sort of blood clots that are treated with blood thinners are something known as dvt, for example, you may have h
